About the Plan

The College continually explores new ways to improve and manage your employee benefits.  Our primary goal is to provide you, our employees, with the opportunity to receive quality dental care services at a reasonable cost to you and your family.

Ivy Tech’s dental plan is Delta Dental PPO which includes their Premier Network of providers.

The Delta PPO Plan allows you to utilize in-network and/or out-of-network providers and still receive coverage.


The Delta Dental PPO Plan offers you and your covered family member’s dental benefits without requiring payment of a deductible for preventive procedures. You may use in- or out-of-network dental care providers for treatment.

You can search for providers in the Delta Dental Premier and Delta Dental PPO networks by name or location by clicking on the following link: Delta Dental Provider Search.   If you choose a dentist who does not participate in Delta Dental’s PPO or Premier Networks, you will be responsible for a larger deductible, a greater copayment and any difference between Delta Dental's allowed fees. For preventive work, such as exams and cleanings, this plan will pay 100% of the cost for in-network providers, and 100% of usual, reasonable, and customary (UCR) costs for out-of-network providers. For basic services, such as fillings or root canals, and for major dental work, such as dentures, the plan will pay 80% of the cost for in-network providers, after the $50/person or $150/family deductible has been met. The calendar year maximum benefit for all services other than orthodontia is $1,500 per person. The Delta Dental PPO Plan also offers orthodontia benefits for dependent children up to age 19 of 50% of cost, with an individual lifetime maximum benefit of $1,000. The orthodontia benefit applies to both in- and out-of-network providers.


If you are a benefits-eligible employee, you may enroll for dental insurance. You may also enroll your eligible dependents for coverage. All eligible employees can enroll for employee only coverage, employee plus spouse coverage, employee plus child(ren) coverage or family coverage within 31 days of their hire date or during the annual open enrollment period. 

If your spouse is employed and is eligible for an employer-sponsored health plan (i.e., preventive care, major medical, and prescription drug) at his or her place of employment, your spouse will not be entitled to primary coverage under the Ivy Tech plans.  If your spouse elects to enroll in his or her employer's heath plan for at least "employee only" coverage, then your spouse may also be covered by the College's plan on a secondary coverage basis.  For more information, please see the Dependent Eligibility Certificate and Validation (Dep. Non-disabled dependent children are eligible for coverage to the end of the month in which the child reaches age 26.

Employees also have 31 days from a qualifying event to make changes to their coverage.  See your Human Resources Administrator for more information.


The College pays a majority of the premium for dental coverage for you and any eligible dependents you elect to enroll. You pay the remaining portion of the premium expense by payroll deduction.
